UPDATE- Exciting Opportunity To Help Us Move!

August 9th, 2017 by Anthony Trask

UPDATE (please continue to read below)-

Within 2 hours we raised the money needed for earnest money!!!!! Praise God. Here’s the deal- That was raise by 6 people. I believe many, many more can give towards this important step for us as a church. So I am challenging all who did not give yet (or who were planning to and just hadn’t yet) to do so. We would love to raise over and above this $5,ooo, as all extra money raised will go towards the down payment of the building, paying off the principle of a loan, and/or fees or moving costs associated with the move. So be generous and obedient and give to this need we have as a church family. And please be in prayer that the other contingencies in this deal can be met- the securing of financing and a particular netted amount from the sale of our property. If those contingencies are not met, we will contact all who gave towards this to see if you’d like the donation you made to go towards a new building acquisition.

-Pastor Anthony

Dear friends and family of Fellowship Church,

We have recently made an accepted offer (with several contingencies in place) on a property, right off I-5, in South Salem that will be a perfect fit for our congregation- 7 acres with a nearly 10,000 square foot beautiful building, and an additional 1,000+ square foot modular building. The building will over double our kids space, over triple our bathroom space (yeah!), and double our sanctuary seating capacity. The property and building are absolutely beautiful and move-in ready with little remodeling needed. If all contingencies are successfully removed, the goal is to be meeting in the new building by late September- early October!

The earnest money required for the offer is $10,000. So far, God has graciously led someone to give $5,000 towards the earnest money needed, which will be deposited into escrow within the next few days. The remaining $5,000 must be deposited within 15 days.

As a church, we need to come together to raise the remaining $5,000 by August 18th. This is OUR church! We can do it!

After the full $10,000 is deposited into escrow, two contingencies will remain- securing financing, and having a certain amount of net proceeds available after the close of our property- we are currently working on both of these things. If the additional $5,000 is not raised by the 18th, our accepted offer will be terminated, and we will be out the $5,000 already deposited. But we do not believe that will happen! We are a generous church filled with contributors who want to see God receive glory and His Kingdom advance though the crucial ministries of Fellowship Church!

So would you consider giving sacrificially and generously towards this next step in the life of our church?

We are looking specifically for x3 individuals, families, businesses, or churches to give $1,000 each, x3 to give $500, and x5 to give $100. Any money raised above the $5,000 will be put towards the down payment of the building or the principle of the loan- After all, we’re believing there will be those who would like to, and are able to, give the full $5,000. If the other contingencies fall through, causing our earnest money in full to be returned, we will contact you to see if you would like your donation back, or would like to use it towards a new building acquisition.

You can give by using “text to give-” Simply text the dollar amount you’d like to give, plus the word “building” to 971-203-0085. You can give HERE by giving to “building.” You can mail a check to Fellowship Church at 4049 Market St NE. Salem, OR 97301- make sure to write “building” in your check’s memo. You can also give during one of our services- simply make sure to write “building” on your giving envelope.

If you are able to commit to this, but can’t do so until after the 18th, please let us know.

If you have any questions in regards to giving towards the earnest money needed or our new property acquisition, don’t hesitate to ask. Email us at info@fellowshipsalem.com or give us a call at 503-363-8622 and someone from our board or elders will contact you to answer answer any questions you may have.

Trojan Horses

February 24th, 2017 by Anthony Trask

There are many things in this world that seem very good, godly, “Christian” and spiritual, but that are, in fact, very dangerous, deceptive and deadly. These things sometimes come in nice packages, but like the Trojan Horse, harbor destruction. We as Christians need to be discerning to these things. We need to judge them by the Word of God, the conviction of the Holy Spirit and with the discernment of our Christian community and leaders.

As a church, we have witnessed many deceptions and cult-like groups that try to allure God’s people (and those He’s calling to faith) away from biblical truth – both with those in our church, in our community and beyond.

As we’ve concluded our parenting series, and are heading into our series on Galatians, our elders have felt led to pause and spend a few weeks teaching on things that can be used to get a Believer’s eyes off of Jesus, and what to do to combat those things.

Join us for this series, Trojan Horses the first two weekends of March 2017. We’ll be looking specifically at things surrounding spiritual warfare, demons, spirits and angels, spiritual gurus, the prosperity gospel, “christian” cults, and other deceptive things.

FellowshipKIDS Parent-Partnership

September 21st, 2016 by Anthony Trask
Starting in November we will be implementing a new policy that requires parents of children in our FellowshipKIDS program to volunteer in a classroom once every quarter. This will tremendously help our program to grow and flourish by giving our regular team members some time off. It also gives you the opportunity to see what your kids are learning! You will not be required to be a head teacher or prepare anything ahead of time. You will be an assistant, which only requires you to have fun and assist the head teacher by doing things such as helping with snack, bathroom breaks, games, keeping the kids’ attention, etc. There will be a sign-up sheet at the Check-In Station where you can sign up for whichever date works best for you and pick up a FellowshipKIDS packet, including a background check. Thank you for understanding and helping us keep our FellowshipKIDS team healthy and growing!

DNA- How We Do Church

September 17th, 2016 by Anthony Trask

Our mission as a church is-

To connect people to an everlasting, committed relationship with Jesus Christ and with others.

Our vision is-

To be a multiplying movement of passionate followers of Jesus who impact their communities and beyond with grace, love, and hope.

But HOW do we do that?

In our new series DNA, we will be looking at How We Do Church in order to accomplish our mission and see our vision realized. We’ll be looking at the distinctives of our culture and why we have developed and fostered these in order to do the work God has called us to as a church.

Don’t miss one weekend of this fun new series! It will take us all the way to December, and ready us for our GLOW Neon Christmas Experience and our intimate Christmas Eve Services.

A Call To Prayer & New Building Update

August 11th, 2016 by Anthony Trask

Ephesians 3:20-21 (ESV)

[20] Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, [21] to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Did you know- did you really know- that God is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think??

Because He is, let’s ask Him for BIG things that will bring Him even more glory! Let us ask of Him- according to His will- things that are so big, that if He grants what we have asked for, only He can get the credit! Let us ask for things that only He can do!

He is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think according to His power. And in the context of this Scripture, this is His power that is at work within us. The power at work within us is the Holy Spirit and the abiding manifest presence of Jesus Christ. So when we go boldly before God with bold requests, with His power at work within and through us, Imagine The Possibilities!

Our Mission and Vision as a church are:

To connect people to an everlasting, committed relationship with Jesus Christ and with others…

In order…

To be a multiplying movement of passionate Followers of Jesus who impact their communities and beyond with grace, love, and hope.

So let’s pray some BIG, bold, audacious prayers to see that Mission continuously accomplished and that Vision continuously realized.

In order to take the next step as a church in this Mission and Vision, we need to move into a larger, more accommodating space, and exponentially increase our web presence through FC Online– leading us into launching new Fellowship Church campuses in our region. We have been tirelessly working towards these goals, keeping the vision alive, and praying for God to be our provision.

Here’s specifically where we are at though- We have accepted an offer on our existing property, and have put in an offer on a new property at 3215 Fisher Rd NE, Salem, OR 97305. The accepted offer on our property is contingent upon us moving into a new property. The offer placed on the new property is contingent upon the closing of the sale of our existing property, and the acquisition of any necessary financing. This new space(currently Bethel Baptist Church) gives us the ability to double our acreage, nearly triple our existing sanctuary size and capacity, over quadruple our kids space, over double our number of bathrooms, nearly quadruple our office space, will give us a designated service space for our growing youth ministry, give us a much needed cry-room for parents and their infants, give us some amazing options for in-service prayer, increase our parking capacity, increase the traffic in front our our building, provide us with a huge commercial kitchen, among many, many other amenities too many to list.

This new property is also perfect for accommodating the launch and operation of FC Online.

In order to move forward with this move, we will need to finance some of the purchase price, though for what we are getting and the size of our congregation, such a mortgage will be very small- somewhere between $100-200k (we will be working out the numbers as the offers are being responded to). Financing this should also enable us to do some necessary minor improvements to the new building (knocking down some walls, adding some doors, reconstructing the stage and sound booth, painting, etc…), and purchase any needed equipment for it (speakers, television monitors, projectors, etc…), including paying for the remaining balance needed for video equipment to launch FC Online. An acquisition of such financing will be decided on by a majority vote present at a future-called special membership meeting to include the church’s members in these decisions.

Again, all of these offers are contingent on several factors, mainly the financial feasibility and ability to purchase a new property.

So here’s what we need-

PRAY

We need you to pray for God to open doors for us financially to see this breakthrough take place. We need to take a step of faith in these matters in order to move forward as a church, and as we do, need to continuously and boldly take this matter to the Lord in prayer. After all, He can do far more abundantly than all we ask or think.

GIVE

We are also asking you to prayerfully consider giving generously toward this project. God may put an amount on your heart He would like you to give towards this project, in faith. Maybe you have a piece of property, an automobile, recreational vehicle, or investment you could give to advance God’s Kingdom through this project- that’s how we have the building we’re in right now. Please pray- Ask God if He would move you to give towards the acquisition of this new and needed property and the launch of FC Online. If God leads you to give, you can do so through any of our current avenues to do so, or contact info@fellowshipsaem.com or at 503-363-8622 if you’d like to talk with one of our leaders about doing so.

PLEDGE

If you can’t commit to giving a one time gift towards the purchase of this building at this time, or even if you can, you may consider committing to pledge a particular amount, monthly, towards the mortgage’s monthly payment- that is something we will be communicating with our members, and will have pledge forms to do so.

ALL-HANDS-ON-DECK

And when God opens up the doors for us to move (into this building or another), we will need all-hands-on-deck helping us with the move, the painting, and the minor remodels that need to be accomplished.

PRAY AGAINST SPIRITUAL WARFARE

One last thing- One thing that has arisen since the momentum of this current project, is spiritual warfare within our church- marriage problems, relational and communication breakdown, division, dissension, and confusion. And do you know what I believe that means? I believe that means that God would like us to accomplish something big through us, and the enemy, the world, and even our own flesh is trying to throw all (they) can at us to halt God’s progress. So stand firm. Stand in faith. Fight this battle together. Fight for unity, understanding, healing, and the progress of our Mission and Vision as a church. And more than anything, let’s band together in prayer against the attack of the enemy, and trust in God to loose a blessing on us as a church like we have never experienced before!

So THIS is a call to prayer Church!

We will be opening up the church sanctuary, for prayer over these things starting Friday, August 12th, and continuing Tuesday, August 16th through the Friday, the 19th, and wrapping-up Tuesday, August 23rd through Friday, the 26th from 11am to 1pm all of those days. If you can stop by, simply let yourself in our office door (which will be unlocked), make your way into the sanctuary, and pray for as long as you’d like. You don’t have to be at a church building to pray for these things, so if you aren’t able to come down, would you please consider praying wherever you are at. Maybe God would even lead you to fast for this as well.

Let’s be in intentional prayer for the state of our church, the acquisition of this new property, and for the lives of those we are privileged to minister to and to do ministry with.

-Pastor Anthony Trask,

08/11/16

Update On Last Night’s Member Meeting Regarding Property Sale

July 20th, 2016 by Anthony Trask

Last night the members present at our Special Called Member’s Meeting voted to proceed with selling our property in order to pursue the purchase of a new, and larger property.

As a result, we will be making a counter offer to the offer on our property that has been made, contingent on the acceptance of an offer we will also be making today for a new property located at 3215 Fisher Rd NE- the contingency on the offers we will be making will help ensure that we don’t end up “homeless.”

We are also doing all we can to move forward on this property without going into debt, and we have made a commitment to our members, that if the church board votes on preceding with mortgage to further facilitate the purchase of this property, that we will bring that to a vote before the members at another Special Called Member’s Meeting.

Special Members’ Meeting On Property Sale

July 16th, 2016 by Anthony Trask

As most of you know, our (paid-for) church property has been “on the market” for well over a year as we have been praying for the Lord to bless us with a larger and more accommodating facility.

Over the past week, an offer has come in, with possibly another coming within the next day or so.

During this process, over the past week, quite a few possibilities have presented themselves- one of which being a facility on Fisher Road that we have been looking at for over a year, becoming available once again!

Our church board, with support from our elders and senior pastor have all voted in favor of making a counter offer to the one made on our property, with the purpose of us then making an appealing offer on the Fisher Road property.

According to our bylaws and constitution, a special meeting must be scheduled for Covenant Members (with one weekend notice), in order to vote on the sale of any church property. A 2/3 majority vote of all members physically present at the special meeting would constitute the approval of the sale.

So this is an invitation for any and all Covenant Members of Fellowship Church, to attend a Special Members’ Meeting to approve the sale of our property, this Tuesday, July 19th at 7:30pm. The meeting should only take 30 minutes at the most. Child care will not be provided, but all children of Covenant Members are encouraged to come and join with their families.

Note– If you’re wondering if you are a Covenant Member- You are IF you have attended our Covenant Membership Class and signed our Membership Covenant to become a member, and are in good standing as a member (mainly, that you still attend this church on a nearly weekly, consistent basis), or if you were a Member of Bible Center Fellowship before becoming Fellowship Church and still actively attend our church (again, on a nearly weekly consistent basis).

New Summer Service Times – Starting Memorial Day Weekend

May 5th, 2016 by Anthony Trask

Exciting Announcement Regarding New Summer Service Times!

As of Sunday, May 29th we will be suspending our Sunday 1pm Service for the summer.

Since purchasing our new chairs, and configuring them as we have, we have added an additional 40 seats per service to our sanctuary’s capacity. These 80 additional seats (Sat and Sun combined) more than accommodate the the average numbers of our 1pm Sunday Service.

This move will also enable our team members who serve faithfully in our services some much needed break time over the summer, and will strengthen the size of teams in our remaining x2 summer services.

We believe that suspending this 1pm service will help create exciting momentum as it will give more opportunity for the different people who regularly attend our church to meet different people who normally attend a different service. These new summer service times will also give more time for some exciting summer activity groups that we have planned for the afternoons/evenings beginning in June.

As we approach the fall, we will look at relaunching a third service once again to accommodate expected growth and to reach people who may not be able to attend our other existing service times- when we do so, other times (and/or even locations) will be looked into to see how we can most effectively reach our community.

Our final Sunday 1pm service this spring will be on Sunday, May 22nd. And from Sunday, May 29th forward, the 1pm service will be suspended.

If you regularly attend our Saturday service, we’d ask you to consider continuing to make that your “home service.” If you regularly attend Sundays at 10:30am, this may be an excellent time to give Saturday a try for the summer! If you regularly attend our 1pm service, please feel welcome to attend whichever service you’d like- each service has it’s own unique vibe while having the exact same “programming” as the others. Saturday is generally less crowded than Sunday as 10:30am and has an awesome social activity following the service that’s great to get to know others at. But with our new chair configuration, each service has some room to grow.

If you have any questions concerning this change, please contact info@fellowshipsalem.com.

Fire Starters

April 28th, 2016 by Anthony Trask

160 years ago men in big hats and cowboy boots would hop-off their horses, take a long walk down a dusty road flanked by saloons, wooden sidewalks, and onlookers, while whistle-infused music played and vultures cried. They’d tip their hats and glare at one another with 50 feet in between them, spit-out their cigarettes, and position their hands near their sides as tumbleweeds bounced carelessly in between them. Then… silence. A horse would whinny in the distance, and a rough man in a long duster, with an even longer beard, missing several teeth would yell; “DRAW!”

The two Gunslingers at the opposing sides of the street would then quickly reach for their pistols, pull back the hammers, and pull back on the trigger as fast as they could muster. The winner of this Fire Fight would be whoever could draw, pull back the hammer, and pull the trigger fast enough. The loser, would end-up lying dead on the street, and buried in a shallow, unmarked grave just outside of town.

Today, we may not so quickly Start Fires like this with guns as people did in times past. But make no mistake, we Start Fires nonetheless. Our world is filled with Fire Starters who play qucik-draw- not with pistols, but with their tongues. And let us tell you, sticks and stones (and bullets) can break your bones, but WORDS WILL HURT YOU (and can do even more damage).

Are you Starting Fires with your tongue? And if so, how can you control it…how can you put these Fires out?

There is truly life and death in the power of the tongue. And for a 3-week period in May (starting Mother’s Day weekend), we will be looking at what God’s Word has to say about Fire Starters and how we can use our tongues His way, instead of using them in Fire Fights.

Annual Business Meeting 2016

April 13th, 2016 by Anthony Trask

Members of Fellowship Church!

On Tuesday , April 26th at 6:30pm, we will be conducting our Annual Business Meeting for Covenant Members.

This is a short meeting were members look at the church’s finances, vote to ratify board members, and vote on any membership issues.

One such membership issue we will be voting on will be the ratification of our NEW Bylaw’s and Constitution which were unanimously approved by our board on 12-29-15. We have been operating ‘as is’ under this revised Bylaws and Constitution for  some time and this will make it official and poise us for more healthy, sustainable growth and leadership.

A copy of our OLD Bylaws and Constitution and our NEW Bylaws and Constitution [with notes stating the difference between the two]- along with our NEW Eldership Documents referenced in the NEW Bylaws and Constitution- to review and compare are included in this post.

We will also be voting to ratify our

  • Board Secretary Carrie Johnson for a term of one year from the Annual Business Meeting.
  • Board Treasurer Ladina Dougherty for a term of one year from the Annual Business Meeting.
  • General Board Member Positions Mike Yoder and Nadine Trask for a term of two years from the date of this Annual Business Meeting.

Other such membership issues that could be voted on in future meetings would be the sale of the church’s physical property- which is on the market and a special Member meeting would be held to vote on such a decision if the need arises.

A simple majority will be determined by members present for all voting. Only Active Covenant Members in good standing are allowed to vote (as referenced by regular attendance to weekend services- approximately x3 weekends per month, annual small group participation if possible, regular giving to support the ministries of FC, and willingness to serve in a ministry at FC). If you were a member of Bible Center Fellowship (previous church name) before we became Fellowship Church, and have yet to attend a Membership Class, but meet the requirements listed above, and are still on our Active Membership Roster- you are able to vote as well.

Attenders of Fellowship Church who have yet to attend a Membership Class and sign a Membership Covenant are allowed to observe the business meeting, but not vote, and can ask any clarifying questions to our Board or Elders following the meeting.

*Childcare is not provided at The Annual Business Meeting so that all Members (who serve in kids for example) are able to attend and vote. Though the official Meeting should be short.

Give To Launch FC Online!

February 3rd, 2016 by Anthony Trask

F ONLINE PLAIN LOGO-01

Friends and Family of Fellowship Church-

Over the past few weeks we have been unveiling our plans to launch an online Fellowship Church campus which will enable us to livestream our services in high-definition around the planet. FC Online will be interactive and allow people joining us online to sing along with us (including lyrics), read along with sermon slides, be greeted by and talked to by members of our First Impressions Team, receive prayer from members of our Ignite prayer team in real time (one on one or in a group), and much more! We had an FC Online Interest Meeting the Sunday evening following our message where we unveiled our plans for FC Online, and 50 people came out to show their interest and get involved! Wow! You can listen to the message from that weekend here.

It is our desire to launch this new church venture by this spring. For the price of an average-cost new car, we can launch FC Online and begin to reach out to thousands online.

As we launch, we have to launch with excellence in the product we put out. Such excellence will require high quality equipment that can be built onto as we grow, and that won’t immediately become obsolete.

Some of the immediate purchases we need to make to launch FC Online are a new sound board, at least x2 new production quality HD cameras, camera lenses, x4 new Mac computers, a new video-friendly lighting system, a video switcher, various computer hardware and software, and an intercom system for our production team- to name a few things.

Our initial fundraising goal is $25k- an extremely reasonable price for effectively launching a brand new church campus which is poised to reach thousands within the first year of operation. Would you prayerfully consider making a sacrificial donation to see this vision become a reality? We could purchase all of this equipment on credit, but we believe that purchasing this with funds in-hand is the most fiscally responsible way to steward our resources. Everyone can give something, to see this happen, as a family.

There is zero pressure to give towards this and we realize that not everyone is in a position to do so, but we want to give you the opportunity to join with us in seeing this great advancement in God’s Kingdom. We are looking for several key investors who God is leading to step-out in faith to see this take place.

In faith, we are looking for several investors who are led to give substantial donations in the following amounts to launch FC Online
[though any amount given furthers the cause of launching FC Online]:

  • x1 $5,000 donor.

  • x2 $2,000 donors.

  • x3 $1,500 donors.

  • x6 $1,000 donors.

  • x8 $500 donors.

  • x4 $250 donors.

  • x5 $100 donors.

Whatever you feel led to give can be given via check or cash (write FC Online on check memo or giving envelope), online through your bank’s billpay or on fellowshipsalem.com/give (type FC Online in your memo), card or ACH set up on giving envelope (write FC Online on envelope), or by using text to give (text dollar amount to 971-203-0085, followed by “FC Online”).

Back To The Future

December 11th, 2015 by Anthony Trask

Join us this New Year for our series, Back To The Future– “A Brief Look At The Book of Revelation.”

We’ll be seeing how we can apply a look at the “End Times” to our world in 2016.

Don’t expect charts, dragons, intense debates over “pre-, post-, mid-, or no-rapture,” or an investigation into who the antichrist we’ll be. But do expect a focus on Christ, His victory, and how we should live-out our lives in light of what He is accomplishing.

Welcome Jeff Bennett As Our New Director of Fellowship Youth

September 3rd, 2015 by Anthony Trask

JeffWe have grown substantially as a church over the past few years and are making some exciting staff changes to make sure our growth is sustained and that the health of our church continues to flourish. Ladina Dougherty has done an amazing job as our Youth Pastor for the past (nearly) 6 years, and has served our church’s youth for at least 8! Ladina will be transitioning into a new role to make our community even greater- She will be our new Pastor of Operations, ensuring that our operations, organization, member care and interaction, ministry teams, and costs are operating effectively, better, and healthily. This is an awesome thing for our church, and will allow Pastor Anthony to focus more on teaching, study, vision-casting, leadership development, and ministering to the congregation along with our great elders, leaders, interns, and staff.

We are also thrilled to announce that Jeff Bennett has joined our staff as our New Youth Pastor! Jeff and his wife Kelli have extensive experience, schooling, and training in youth and family ministries and we are so excited for what they will bring to the table as we prepare our youth department for the huge wave of growth that is coming.

As a result of these changes, SALT Student Ministries is becoming Fellowship Youth! Our Youth Night is changing from Thursdays to WEDNESDAYS starting September 9th! We LAUNCH FELLOWSHIP YOUTH on Wednesday the 9th with a Kick-Off Party at 6pm for Teens and their families to let you know the direction our Youth is headed in.

Please take time to honor and welcome Jeff and Kelli onto our staff and leadership team in this capacity! We are stoked!

GLOW message 2014

December 22nd, 2014 by Anthony Trask

Fellowship Church GLOWs bright this Christmas in our annual GLOW Services! Pastor Anthony talks about the coming of the Christ, the Light of The World, and how, through Him, we can GLOW bright.

Reach People For Christ This Christmas

December 17th, 2014 by Anthony Trask

Our Christmas GLOW Services are only 2 days away!

If you’ve never been, this is a unique experience unlike anything you’ve ever seen. If you’ve been to GLOW in the past two years, we have radically stepped things up this year, and it is going to be amazing!

But this event is not about black lights, LED Batons, techno-driven Christmas music, or kids GLOW parties.

This event is an effective tool to introduce people to Jesus, The Hope of the World. Just as Jesus used a free lunch, healing, and miracles as a tool to draw men to Him, we are expecting that He will use GLOW as such a tool as well.

We want to show people that church can be a fun and exciting environment, and that it is supposed to reflect the nature of God. We want to show people that Jesus is powerful, mighty to save, and the way, the truth, and the life! Jesus said in Matthew 16 that He would build His Church and through GLOW, He will be!

Just two years ago, we were a church of around 100-150 people (per weekend). When we held our first GLOW, then, we were ecstatic to have 300 people come out to celebrate with us. That service, though, was just a step in bringing us to where we are today, as we today, are a church of 300 people (per weekend)!

Last year, we saw nearly 600 come out to experience GLOW, and God continues to grow His Church, here, through us!

This year we are praying for God to send us 800 people to GLOW! But we’re not just about building crowds (even though Jesus was very much about that), we are interested more in building disciples (which was the reason why Jesus drew crowds). So more specifically than praying for 800 to show up, we are praying for 100 people to be connected in an everlasting, committed relationship with Jesus Christ. We are also praying for 50 to take their next step in their walk with Christ by being baptized in water. This is a God-Sized Goal that is worthy of our time, energy, resources, and prayers!

This year’s GLOW will be yet another step in Jesus building our church-up to be the church that He has called us to be. This, we are praying, will be a major step towards us reaching 500 weekly by Easter (4 months away), launching a new campus in our region, and planting a brand new church in our region, by 2020.

So if you believe in this God-Sized vision, we are asking with you to partner with us in seeing it happen.

The number one way that you can partner with us, is by bringing people with you to GLOW.

The number two way that you can partner with us is by investing into God’s Kingdom, financially, to support GLOW. We still need to raise about $1,500 to fund this event. Here are a few things that money would fund: Most importantly, [1] Visitor Follow-Up ($500…Christmas cards, gift cards, stamps, invite cards, etc…), [2] Lighting ($200…), [3] Supplies for kids party ($300…), [4] Programs for GLOW ($200…), [5] Food for volunteer teams for the weekend ($300…)… It costs money to do this and the Church thrives and moves forward with the generous, sacrificial, and regular giving from the Church (themselves). My wife and I have been thrilled to give generously to see this event take place, and we’d like to invite you to join with us and many others who have sacrificed to make this happen.

The number three way that you can partner with us is by praying. Now, if you noticed, I put praying at number three. That was intentional. God has called us to “Go!” God has called us to take action. We can’t pray and ask God to do for us, what we are not willing to get our hands-dirty in partnering with Him to do. You can’t ask God for a job, and never apply for one. You can’t ask God for a hot meal, with food in your kitchen, and not be willing to cook it. You can’t ask God for a wife, without ever keeping your eye out for one, asking a girl out on a date, building a Godly relationship with her, treating her right, and proposing to her. You can’t ask God for kids if you’re not being intimate in your marriage, etc… You get the point. James says that, “faith without works is dead.” Prayer leads to work, and work leads to more prayer. So please pray, but if you can’t invite just one person, or if you can’t give a few dollars- I’m not sure you really have faith in what you’re praying for.

One more way you can partner with usCome expecting God to do some amazing things! You’re expectation can change the atmosphere and build people’s faith to see God do great things!

Are you excited? I am stoked!

You can give here, send a check or online bank payment with “GLOW” in the memo to Fellowship Church, 4049 Market St NE Salem, OR 97301, or give in service this weekend.

But most importantly bring someone with you! Lives will change!

NEW SERVICE TIMES- Starting December 2014

November 18th, 2014 by Anthony Trask

new service times dec 2014 banner-01

We are EXCITED to ANNOUNCE that we are LAUNCHING NEW SERVICE TIMES the 1st Weekend of December (6th & 7th)! We’ve run out of room to continue growing, especially on Sundays, and especially for kids. For the past few months, we’ve had pretty much standing room only on Sundays, and we need to make more space for all of the awesome people God is bringing us.

Our NEW SERVICE TIMES will be Saturday at 6pm, Sunday at 10:30AM, and Sunday at 1:00PM. 1:00PM will be a great time for families who like to sleep-in and eat either breakfast, brunch, or lunch before coming to church!

We’re looking for people who normally attend our Sunday 11am service to make a commitment to attending the New 1:00PM Service in order for this to be a success. We need at least 50 people (from Sat and our Sun 11am service) to make a commitment to attending on Sundays at 1:00PM. P

Partner With Fellowship Church for The Holidays

October 31st, 2014 by Anthony Trask

1403459_10151948013579064_2090933891_o

At Fellowship Church we take our Mission of-

Connecting people to an everlasting, committed relationship with Jesus Christ, and with others….

Very Seriously.

Our culture provides us a great opportunity to connect people with Jesus during the Holiday Season- people are more apt to be thinking about spiritual things, gratitude, their families, the story of Jesus, and more apt to struggle with things like loneliness, depression, and need. Because people are seeking for deeper meaning during this time, we have the opportunity to introduce them to the good news of Jesus Christ, and His free gracious-gift of salvation through faith.

Here’s a few ways we’ll be engaging our community with the Gospel of Christ this Holiday Season, and how you can partner with us to make it happen:

Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner-

This Thanksgiving, we will continue our 5-Year Tradition of Serving our neighbors an amazing Free Thanksgiving Meal in order to show them the love of Christ in a tangible way. For one magical night, we turn our church facility into a full service restaurant- complete with hosts, servers, bus boys, chefs, live-soft music, and prayer! No buffet lines, here! Just loving people, serving families, one by one at nice tables, getting them whatever they need or request for their Thanksgiving Dinner. And speaking of Dinner, we Serve a full dinner- Good Turkey! Cranberry Sauce! Rolls! Mash Potatoes and Gravy! Green Beans! Stuffing! And Pie!

This event is very impactful to our community, sees every kind of person you can imagine come out, and for many, will be the only Thanksgiving Dinner they have this year.

And we do it with no expectation or pressure of coming to a church service, and do not allow donations of any kind from those we serve.

As a church, we have several people who are integral members of our fellowship because they came to this important meal.

We simply want to Serve to show the love of Christ, but Serving opens up great doors to share the good news of Christ, as well as minister to those who come (through encouragement, meeting needs, and prayer).

We are planning on feeding at least 300 of our neighbors this year. We can serve 300, exceptionally well, for only about $1,500! That’s it!

Please consider making a year-end, tax-deductible donation to see this meal take place and paid for!

GLOW Christmas Celebration-

For the past two years, we have held a Christmas Party like no other for our community- Our GLOW Christmas Celebration!

This is a time to celebrate the coming of the Light of Christ into the world 2,000 years ago! We sing familiar Christmas and worship songs with a major electronic twist, we preach the Gospel of Jesus in a unique and moving way, we wave LED Glow Batons to the glory of God, and we have a phenomenal Glow Party for our Kids! This truly is a Christmas event like no other, and if you come, will definitely become a family Christmas tradition that you won’t ever want to miss!

We are expecting 800 people to come and attend this year’s GLOW over the course of (at least 5 services), we are praying for 100 salvations, and 50 (mostly spontaneous) baptisms! Seriously! It’s that powerful, as God has used it mightily!

We would ask you to consider partnering with us in this huge, unique, cutting-edge evangelism event, this Christmas. This is a gift that truly will impact hundreds of lives. The cost for GLOW is expected to only be around $2,500- for marketing, GLOW Batons, lighting, and other supplies and equipment.

Everyone can give something towards these crucial events to advance our Mission! Please type in “Holidays” in the memos of you giving, and we’ll make sure that your money goes to support these two events, and the reaching of hundreds for God’s Kingdom.

Why Do We Use Facebook Invites For Everything?

October 30th, 2014 by Anthony Trask

Each week we make a Facebook Invitation for the weekend’s upcoming services.

Why do we do this?

  • Do we want to keep a record of attendance, and who’ll be coming?
  • Are we preparing for how many people will be there?

No!

These are all good questions, but the only reason that we make Facebook invites is so that YOU CAN “INVITE” YOUR “FRIENDS.”

Our Facebook page has nearly 600 “Likes-” a lot for a church. But, all 600 of you have “Friends” on Facebook, so this puts our potential reach on Facebook at around 200,000 people every single week .

Every time you “Like” something we post, every time you “Share” something we post, and every time you “Join” an event, there is a possibility of tens of thousands of people seeing that. This is free advertising!

When you click “Join” on one of our events; your “Friends” see that, and that creates interest and momentum for our church, and causes people to visit out of sheer Facebook-curiosity. We have people who are regular attenders and members now merely because of a few Facebook posts that went “viral.”

So, when we “Invite” you to an event on Facebook, and you are planning on coming, PLEASE take the time to click “Join,” and spend a few minutes to “Invite” your “Friends” as well.

This is the easiest, and a very effective way, to “Invite” your “Friends” to church with you; and will help us in reaching our goal of reaching 500 people a weekend by Easter 2015!

So let’s choose to use Facebook, together, for God’s glory and for the advancement of His Kingdom.

And remember, the best way to “invite” someone is a face-to-face, “come-and-see,” “I’ll meet you in the parking lot,” invitation!

See you this weekend! You better have someone with you : )

October 29th, 2014 by Anthony Trask

Here is a summary of some key information from our message on prophecy this past weekend:

If someone prophesies over you and/or gives you a “word” of knowledge or wisdom, here is what you are to test:Supernatural, Part 3 Power Point

If you feel you have a “word” of prophecy, knowledge, and/or wisdom for someone or the church, here are some procedures you need to follow:

Ask yourself:

  • Ask Yourself If What You Feel Or Hear Is Biblical?

  • Make Sure What You Feel Or Hear Could Help Someone (as opposes to hurt them or make them feel condemnation).

  • Does This Bring Glory To God…?

  • Ask God To Clarify Or Confirm To You What He’s Said Or Impressed Upon You?

  • Ask Someone If They Feel It’s From God- Always do this! God works with us as a Body, and will almost always use others to confirm what He’s doing.

Here are the Absolute Biblical “Rules” for Operating Prophetically Within A Gathering of Christians:

  • Only Two, And At The Most Three, Can Prophesy (publicly)Within A Gathering of Christians [1 Cor 14:29].

  • Those Two Or Three Must Take Turns With Their Message (the others remaining silent) [1 Cor 14:30-31, 33].

  • Then Those Prophecies Much Be Tested By Those Present [1 Cor 14:29, 32].

In order for these gifts to flourish within Fellowship Church, these are the procedures we ask you to follow so that our leaders can protect the flock, while encouraging the gifts of the Spirit within the church:

Let Someone Know If For The Church…

If you ever feel like you have a “word” for the whole church, let the leaders of Ignite know, an elder know, or a pastor know and they’ll begin to test you to see if you can be trusted, and test this word to see if it is true, and one that they should bring to the church in an orderly fashion. If so, a leader will either share this word with the church, or a leader may ask you to share it with the church.

Test Words For Individuals…

If you ever feel like you have a word for someone (an individual, family, etc…) in the church that you’re to share, we ask that you test it with one of these same leaders so that they can test it, so that you can be accountable to them with the words you speak, and so they can encourage you to bring someone with you to hear the word spoken, for confirmation of what it is you are saying. Meaning, unless this is an on-the-spot-message (see below), we ask that you always bring someone with you for a witness.

On The Spot…Let Someone Know Afterwards…

If God compels you to share a word with someone in the church, on the spot, and you are absolutely certain of it, we encourage you to be obedient and share it, and then to let the one of your leaders know what that word was, to protect the person you prophesied over, and to hold yourself accountable.

Make Record Of It…

If you do share a word with someone, please have someone with you to write it down. Or if no one else is around, please write it down yourself and give it to the person you spoke over so they have record to remind them, and for testing. Please give a copy to our leaders- if it’s for someone within our church- for accountability, witness, and protection.

These are just a look at some of the important points of teaching on procedures revolving around Prophecy, Knowledge, and Wisdom, but will not make full sense without listening to the message here.

Congratulations To Erin Rodriguez for Her Ministry Licensing And Completion of Fellowship Church’s Two-Year Internship Program

October 22nd, 2014 by Anthony Trask

20141021_145820

At Fellowship Church we are blessed with so many young people, and blessed to have so many of those young people passionate about Jesus, His church, and ministry. One way which we enable a select few of these young people to grow in their relationship with Christ is through our Fellowship Internship- a one or two year program which includes intense mentoring, ministry training, and leadership opportunities.

This past weekend, we were pleased to recognize Erin Rodriguez for completing the two year Internship program, and to award her with an official license into ministry. As of Sunday, October 19th, Erin Rodriguez is now a Licensed Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ under the authority and covering of Fellowship Church. Please congratulate her for this recognition, and thank her for her service to you, the Church.

Erin will continue to serve as Fellowship Church’s Serve Ministry Pastor, and will continue to help with large events and special ministry projects. We are honored to have her, and are excites to see wherever God takes her in life.

Below is a testimony from Erin on what God has done in her life since starting the program.

“You must step in now” are the words I began to hear whispered in my ear. The voice was small and still, yet stronger than any force I could imagine. There was a sense of urgency being instilled in me, an urgency to step into the plan this voice willed for my life. I began to step into this plan by getting involved with Fellowship Church and devoting time to volunteer. When the opportunity of an internship was revealed, I knew this was actually God opening a door I needed to walk through. God had even bigger plans for my life when I started the internship as I was given the opportunity to lead the Serve Ministry at Fellowship Church. Three years ago, I would of not only denied any future involvement with a church, but I would have denied God’s whole existence. This change of heart towards the church and towards the mission of Jesus is exactly that, A CHANGE OF HEART, and a transformation of desires. The Holy Spirit led me to enter into an internship that would require me to dedicate a significant amount of time and efforts, but I knew it was what I had to do. Now that the internship is completed, I am in awe of the blessings I received and thankful for my spiritual growth and accomplishments.

I received mentorship on a weekly basis, completed behind the scenes office work needed for any church to function, created a team of dedicated people to serve in our outreach ministry, completed heavy biblical study, and learned the in depth importance of ministry and discipleship in the church. I benefited from the intern retreats as they allowed me to be refreshed by God in beautiful sceneries such as the Oregon Coast. There were also opportunities throughout this internship to pray and seek out my spiritual gifts in ministry and opportunities to act on those gifts. I enjoyed being taught the tools and skills of how to pray for people, how to serve people, how to encourage people, how to engage people in ministry, how to support people in crisis, how to give to people in need, and how to do all necessary aspects of ministry. The skills I learned not only showed me how to do ministry but also showed me how to teach others and effectively lead a team. I believe this internship has guided me and equipped me to do the work that Jesus called me to do.

I am incredibly grateful for the leadership and guidance of Pastor Anthony Trask throughout my internship, as it is a huge part of my growth. The high expectations and guidelines for the internship have built me into a disciplined and obedient follower of Christ. My discernment has significantly increased due to the teachings of Anthony and the working of the Holy Spirit in my life. I have a high respect and gratitude towards the members of leadership that partook in my journey of this internship. The Pastor of youth ministries, Ladina Dougherty, has been apart of my growth through mentorship and teaching me leadership skills. Sr Pastor Ralph Trask has been an incredible source of biblical knowledge and has invested in my spiritual growth throughout this internship. I am humbled to have been apart of such a great program, with such genuine people. This internship has raised me up and equipped me to do the works in which God planned for me to accomplish from the beginning. Thanks be to God and to all who have invested into my life, I am forever grateful and praise God for this opportunity.

The Fruit and The Gifts of The Spirit, And How To Discover Your Gift

October 19th, 2014 by Anthony Trask

This past weekend Pastor Anthony continued our Supernatural series with a look at the big idea of Spiritual Gifts and Spiritual Fruit. The following post is a list of the Spiritual Gifts, given by the Spirit to Christians , and listed in the New Testament, a list of Spiritual Fruit that our lives need to produce, and a resource to help you discover your gifts:

Spiritual Gifts:

The 20 Spiritual Gifts listed in the New Testament are found in Rom 12:6-8; 1 Cor 12:7-11; 1 Cor 13:3; Eph 4:11-12; and 1 Pet 4:9. Some people suggest that poverty is a Spiritual Gift, but that is too debated to have listed here on that definitive list.

  1. Administration

  2. Apostleship

  3. Contribution

  4. Discernment

  5. Evangelism

  6. Exhortation

  7. Faith

  8. Healing

  9. Helps

  10. Hospitality

  11. Interpretation of Tongues

  12. Knowledge

  13. Leadership

  14. Mercy

  15. Miracles

  16. Pastors

  17. Prophecy

  18. Teachers

  19. Tongues

  20. Wisdom

Spiritual Fruit:

The list of Spiritual Fruit that the lives of Christians are supposed to live out are found in Galatians 5:22-23. Fruit is are ultimate marker of maturity in the life of a Christian.

  1. Love

  2. Joy

  3. Peace

  4. Patience

  5. Kindness

  6. Goodness

  7. Faithfulness

  8. Gentleness

  9. Self-Control

Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts:

Our good friend Marshall Snider of Bridgetown Ministries in Portland conducted an awesome Spiritual Gift and Personality Training Seminar for us, as a church, a few years back. He uses the resources of Uniquely You to help people discover their gifts. It’s not scientifically-proven when it comes (specifically) to discovering your gifts but always seems to be very accurate, and very helpful in helping you discover them. For $15, you can purchase the assessment provided in the link below (click the picture), though they’ve added 3 gifts that (we believe) are more talents or skills than actual Spiritual Gifts (craftsmanship, creative communication, and intercession), but it is still very helpful!

In The Loop: Vision Week and Fasting

September 3rd, 2014 by Anthony Trask

We are getting close to our Vision Weekend on October 4th and 5th!

We are believing GOD for some BIG things this coming year as a church! The biggest thing we are believing for, is a new building to facilitate our growing church (read more). We are asking that we as a church, commit to fasting from something for one week between now and our Vision Weekend. By fasting from something, we can dedicate that time, focus, and energy, towards praying for this new building which we need.

In The Loop: We Need To Move

September 2nd, 2014 by Anthony Trask

We have run out of room. Especially for our kids, and especially on Sundays.

We’ve been blessed with a paid-for building and property, but it’s time to move. It’s our goal to sell our existing property & move to a building that will provide us with at least two times as much square footage and to do so with zero debt. Please be in prayer that GOD will provide us with the right buyers for our existing property, and the right property for us to move to and please continue to support Fellowship Church financially as we continue to grow.

One such property we are considering moving to is the Bethel Baptist Church property on Fisher Road behind Food 4 Less and Walmart. We’ll keep you in the loop during the process and keep you aware of our needs in this matter. Let’s grow together!

In The Loop: Coffee Cans and Missions

August 28th, 2014 by Anthony Trask

Coffee Cans

We want to raise LOTS of money this upcoming ministry year (October-September) for Global Missions! What we need from you is to start collecting and saving your coffee cans, so that we can distribute a can to every family who attends our church, to save their spare change and anything else they’d like to give, throughout the year to go specifically towards Missions! We will be asking everyone to bring these cans in on the weekend of September 20th and 21st, and will be distributing them with some special wrapping, during our Vision Weekend!
